A few doors.
A lot behind them.

Everything I write is filed under whatever it is actually about, so one piece can sit in several rooms at once. Rooms with nothing in them stay quiet.

A bedroom corner with eight One Piece wanted posters across one wall, a Demon Slayer poster on the next, and Yu Yu Hakusho playing on a projector screen below

Space

Eclipses, distance, and the scale of the universe. I am not an astronomer. What interests me is what the numbers do to you once you take them seriously.

Cinema

Films and television that keep working on me after the screen goes dark. Usually it is one character or a single scene rather than the whole plot.

Anime

Some of it I grew up on, some of it I finished out of sheer stubbornness, and two of them genuinely changed how I think about something. One film I have watched more than ten times and still cannot leave alone.

Books

Reading notes and lines worth carrying forward. I would rather this filled up slowly than pretended otherwise.

Nothing yet

Technology

Building software, taking things apart, and preferring systems I can still explain to myself. Also why this site is built the way it is.

Gaming

Games across Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox and PC. Most of them briefly, a few for hundreds of hours. Zelda, Ghost of Tsushima and Red Dead Redemption 2 are the ones that remind me why I play at all.

Running

Long distances, stubbornness, and bad planning. Around 500 kilometres so far, almost all of it in the last year. What interests me is what happens to your thinking somewhere past the point you prepared for.

Chess

Patterns, mistakes, and the slow work of seeing one move further than last time. I am not good at it yet. That is most of the appeal.

Travel

Nepal and Australia, the coast, and long train rides. I care more about the journey and what I photographed than about a list of places.

Music

An attempt to build something permanent instead of a stream of playlists I will not remember. Filed by language, because that is the thing that actually varies.

Food

Nepali food mostly, and the ongoing project of reproducing dishes at home well enough to recognise them. A great deal of ramen, as it turns out.

Life

Observations, changing opinions, and the things that do not fit under one heading. Nepal to Sydney, persistence, and ordinary moments worth keeping.
